Overview
"(Girl We Got a) Good Thing" is known for its Beach Boys style and abrupt bridge. It is one of three songs on The White Album to be written solely by Rivers Cuomo. In an interview for the show 2 Hours with Matt Pinfield, Cuomo explained that the song was originally called "Codependent" and described a relationship that was "getting ugly", but didn't seem to "take-off" with the music. He then began singing the lyric "Good Thing" around the melody, and wrote new lyrics about his experiences around Venice Beach.
