Been in the Storm

"I've Been in the Storm So Long" (typically referred to as simply "Been in the Storm") is an African-American spiritual song.

Overview

The members of Weezer sang "Been in the Storm" as a warm-up vocal exercise, prior to concerts, in 2001 (similar to the song "My Evaline" years earlier). A recording from December 8, prior to a show in Cleveland, OH was released on Weezer.com and, due to its release proximity, is often grouped with the semi-official Summer Songs of 2000 album.

Lyrics

Lord Jesus, hear my prayer
Lord Jesus
Lord, hear my prayer

I've been in the storm so long
I've been in the storm so long, children
I've been in the storm so long
Oh, give me little time to pray

Oh, let me tell my mother
How I've come along
Oh, give me little time to pray
With a hung down head and an aching heart
Oh, give me little time to pray

Oh, when I get to heaven
Take my gloried seat
Oh, give me little time to pray
When I cast my crown at Jesus' feet
Oh, give me little time to pray

Lord Jesus, hear my prayer
Lord Jesus
Oh, hear my prayer
