Ed Dobrydnio - credited as just 'Ed' - was a bassist-turned-guitar player in Brian Bell's pre-Weezer band Carnival Art. Prior to that, circa 1986, he was an early member of Jane's Addiction, but was replaced by Dave Navarro before the 1987 debut Nothing Shocking.
