Today in Weezer History: 12/8/1994 - Weezer performs in San Jose, CA at the KOME Almost Acoustic Christmas show on the Blue Album Tour. This was one of numerous "Acoustic Christmas" type shows put on by radio stations that weezer played in 1994, including in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. As Alternative Radio became a major force for a while in the 90's, these shows were kind of a big deal. KOME San Jose had only switched to Alternative from Classic Rock that year, (and would only last until 1998), and they were newly run by the same company who ran KROQ in L.A., so the programming and station graphics were very similar to L.A.'s. This show's lineup was Fret Blanket from England, Luscious Jackson, Linda Perry (of 4 Non Blondes), Sheryl Crow (still considered 'alternative' then), Hole, Live, The Black Crows (apparently considered 'alternative' then), Weezer, and finally Bad Religion, the mainstay California Punk band. Very little KOME 90's history survives online, and the shirt, weezers shortened 94 radio show' setlist and the fall tour book are all that can be found regarding this show today. Of note, bassist Matt Sharp's other band The Rentals played the 1995 version of this show on 12/16/95, whose lineup was about as 90's as could be, with Radiohead, Oasis, Garbage, No Doubt, Toadies, Everclear and Jawbreaker all playing.
