The first "Homie tryout" show took place at the Middle East in Cambridge, Massachusetts on November 4, 1997. In addition to Rivers Cuomo, Kevin Stevenson of the Shods played guitar. An audience recording exists.
This concert is most likely where Cuomo met his future wife, Kyoko Ito.[1]
