Kurt Cobain was the guitarist, lead singer, and principle songwriter for legendary Seattle rock band Nirvana, until his untimely death in 1994.
Weezer connection
Rivers Cuomo has cited Cobain as a big influence for Weezer, especially the single Sliver, which Weezer often covered during the Troublemaker Tour. The original lyrics to "Suzanne," which Cuomo has taken to singing live since the Memories Tour, read: "Even Kurt Cobain and Axl Rose, when they call you put 'em all on hold." The lyric was modified out of respect for Cobain once he died.
The 2005 Gus Van Sant film Last Days documents the final period of Cobain's life, and some have speculated that a character played by actor Lukas Haas is based on Cuomo.
