An acoustic demo of "Peace, Love, and Understanding" was recorded at Weezer's rented office space in 2003. The song was not listed in any public versions of the Catalog O' Riffs or in the Recording History and, as such, was unknown to fans prior to 2020. The song was among of hundreds of demos leaked through the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com on November 7, 2020, and was made available for purchase a few weeks later, on November 22, when it was released as part of the digital compilation Alone IX: The Make Believe Years. The song is of no apparent relation to the song of the same name by Nick Lowe.
