Appearances
Overview
"Rosemary" was played at a number of Weezer “tryout” shows in 1997 and 1998, in which Rivers was joined by various musicians with the hopes of finding a member to replace former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp (eventually the band would settle on Boston musician Mikey Welsh). The song was among dozens of demos in consideration for Weezer's eventual third album, but did not make the cut. A demo by Cuomo from 1997 leaked online in November of 2020, and would be officially released later the same month as part of the digital compilation Alone IV: The Blue-Pinkerton Years. In an entry on Riverpedia on December 18, 2020, Cuomo confirmed that the song had been written for the tentative side project Lovely.

Lyrics
The sun is up and trembling
And all around the robins sing
The spring is on and everything is fine
And in the light, I see you there
With flowers all around your hair
Sleepyhead, it’s time to share your dreams
But you don’t listen
You don’t be listenin'
You and the Rosemary are kissin’
Echoing, I hear the shouts
Of children playing in the park
I wonder what they laugh and cry about
And now I want to be with you
As close as I can get to you
Sleepyhead, it’s time to share your love
But you don’t listen
You don’t be listenin'
You and the Rosemary are kissin'
Bitter days will come again
But I won't be leaving in the end
Bitter days will pass us by
But I only love you more each time
And if I lose you in the end
I hope you still can be my friend
