Overview
Unlike many other songs from this album, this track does not transition seamlessly from the previous song in the track list, "Mirror Image". The song references K-pop group Blackpink, Rivers Cuomo's daughter Mia, and his mother Beverly Shoenberger.
There's a song called "Screens" which addresses all of my anxieties about what we're talking about with people detaching from other humans, and spending all their time connected to screens. I'm so anxious about looking around in my house and seeing, ok, there's one child on that device, there's the other child on that device, and there's my wife over there on that device. Next door, my mom's on that device. I can't help but feel a sense of loss and anxiety about it.

Audio
Lyrics
Young girl, lying flat on her bed
Streaming images to her head
Homework or memes, slime or Blackpink
Eight hours gone, now her mind's blown
She don't, she don't want me here
Now the real world is dying
As everybody moves into the cloud
Can you tell me where we're going?
Where will we be, 21 years from now?
Everyone stares at the screens
Everyone stares at the screens
Old maid in the cottage next door
We don't see her much anymore
She plays Solitaire on her desktop
Searches for her kids, now she can't stop
Did she think she'd go out this way?
Now the real world is dying
As everybody moves into the cloud
Can you tell me where we're going?
Where will we be, 21 years from now?
Everyone stares at the screens
Everyone stares at the screens
I miss my friends
I miss my family
