mod

megasnorkel spends most (all) of his time with his new girlfriend. soupandballoons quit on me. i cannot captain this ship alone. consider yourself a mod. you have god-like powers. use them for good. <3 ohjonas (admin) 01:26, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I resent that, Martin. Thanks for picking up the slack while I was off spending all of my time with my girlfriend, Donny. :-) -- Megasnorkel (admin) 22:48, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Karl's Corner entries

'ello Donny. You might notice that I'm going back and changing some of the Karl's corner entries circa 2000 or so. I'm editing them to reflect how they were originally posted on Weezer.net. This includes removing the titles that were added when they were posted on .com in the Super Chrono and replacing links that were apparently lost when Karl copied them from .net and posted them on .com. -- Megasnorkel (admin) 22:48, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

==WP== EMAIL

My German friend,
Martin and I decided that we'd like to set up WP emails for the mods So you can be donny@weezerpedia.com. It will basically just forward to an email of your choosing. Please let me know what email you would like to forward your WP mail to. --Megasnorkel (admin) 01:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Karl's Corner NavBox

I figured out the base template for the Karl's Corner navbox. This should make that infobox obsolete. We will need to make lots of other templates for this navbox to work (13 per year for 10 years is about 130), but this is the simplest way. This way, if something needs to be changed for one month's worth of entries, we'll only need to edit one template and not 31 pages worth of Karl's Corner entries. I'm not sure if you noticed, but I'm sort of overhauling the Karl's Corner categories (adding that pesky hyphen - it just looks better). And I'm considering changing the Karl's Corner/Corner Archive thing just a bit, to make it look a bit nicer. For the time being, using the templates the way that I have them set up should be just fine. Some things for you to look at:

Please hit the edit buttons on those pages so you can see what the markup for all of this stuff should look like. If you have any questions/comments/concerns/suggestions, just drop me an email or reply to this talk page thingy. -- Megasnorkel (admin) 23:39, 14 August 2009 (EDT)

plans for the future

Hey.
I'm not sure how often everyone has been editing here, but my productivity with =wp= has steadily decline of late. I plan on changing this! I'm promising myself that I am going to edit 1 page a day. Yesterday, I made Josh Freese, and today I beefed 367. Hopefully I can start contributing like the good ol' days, cuz =wp= is important to me. keep it on the up. - MNIJ.

Dreamin'

The Greatest Man that Ever Lived was released too before the offical album, and Dreamin' was released shortly afterwards, wouldn't that mean Dreamin' is a single?--RiversJackson 11:22, 9 July 2010 (EDT)

Greatest Man is listed because it was actually released as a radio single after Troublemaker. Promo CDs exist. Dreamin' was just part of an iTunes promotion that was unfortunately called "iTunes singles". They weren't "real" singles though. --Donny 11:58, 9 July 2010 (EDT)
Oh, Ok i understand, but their is another issue, what about Represent? Is that an officail single or is it an iTunes single also?--RiversJackson 23:08, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
Represent should be a single as it was a stand-alone release. It wasn't part of any promotion. It even has a music video. --Donny 02:59, 30 July 2010 (EDT)
And, can Dreamin' still be listed as a released single from the Red Album and not on the discography seeing as it technically is a single?--RiversJackson 23:11, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
Personally I wouldn't want it in the discography listed under singles and I think I already explained why. It just wasn't a single. --Donny 02:59, 30 July 2010 (EDT)
Is it ok as it is listed under Promotional Singles in the discography?--RiversJackson 23:41, 4 August 2010 (EDT)
Yup, that's better. --Donny 02:43, 5 August 2010 (EDT)
I've changed my mind. Dreamin' shouldn't be in the discography page at all. The iTunes release date in the Dreamin' article should be enough. --Donny 04:57, 18 August 2010 (EDT)

New album

Since I am not an administrator and you are, could you please confirm the new album "Hurley" by checking this link out: http://rockitoutblog.com/2010/08/04/weezer-releasing-new-album-hurley-on-september-14th/ I would appreciate it so I don't get pegged with vandalism.--RiversJackson 00:33, 5 August 2010 (EDT)

It has been confirmed on weezer's twitter and Facebook page too. But I don't know what exactly you want me to do. The article for "Hurley" is already there. Or do you want me to post it on the News page? --Donny 02:45, 5 August 2010 (EDT)
I didn't know (at the time) that it was on their twitter and facebook, I just wanted to let someone know it was a true story.--RiversJackson 11:12, 5 August 2010 (EDT)

Tripping

Ok, now is Tripping Down the Feeway a single, or promotional single cause it's listed on the mod rock charts, but it's still getting insisted as a real single, do you know if it is or not?--69.72.86.5 20:11, 13 August 2010 (EDT)

I renamed the "Promotional Singles" table "Other charted Songs" and removed Dreamin'. Both Dremin' and Trippin' aren't singles. --Donny 04:55, 18 August 2010 (EDT)

installing extensions

hey. I'm tinkering around with possibly making the entire Gallery page one big image map, and I'm having some trouble. Do we have an imagemap extension installed? What the hell is an extension? Do you know what I'm talking about at all? I'm sending this to all the mods to see what's going on. I have the code for the imagemap made (i used this to make it), but i don't know what to do from there. if it's any help, the code is saved in the Sandbox. the extension can be found here. thanks.
--MyNameIsJason 07:17, 26 August 2010 (EDT)

Sorry Bro. I'm the wrong guy to ask. I have nothing to do with the programming of this site. I don't even know what an image map is, haha. Too bad that the admins don't really spend time here anymore. Just wait till one of them replies to you. Megasnorkel probably knows what to do. --Donny 07:39, 26 August 2010 (EDT)
No worries. Soup might be able to help. I didn't know what an imagemap was until yesterday, but it's awesome. We use a thingy called "Clickpic" on the Main Page for the Band Members thingy. Notice how when you click on the picture of Rivers in his little band member box, it takes you to the Rivers Cuomo page? Usually clicking an image takes you to the page for that image. Clickpic lets you link stuff through images. An imagemap is like that, but you can link A WHOLE BUNCHA SHIT to an image. Different parts of the image link to different pages. Right now, I think the Gallery page is fucked. If you click on the image that's on the main Gallery page, it doesn't take you to that specific gallery. It takes you to that image's page. I tried messing around with clickpic within the gallery, and from what you can see in the bottom of the Sandbox it didn't come out very well. I had an idea last night that I could make the Gallery page just one big imagemap, and if you put your mouse over the "Rivers Cuomo" area, it would be a link to the Rivers Cuomo Gallery. Basically, I would delete all the content currently on the Gallery page and upload an image that looks exactly like it that had links embedded in it. I sound really nerdy right now, but I think this is cool. --MyNameIsJason 21:32, 26 August 2010 (EDT)

removed featured content from sidebar, main page

Hey. I think the page for "Featured Content" isn't really relevant anymore. Not many of the articles or songs that we feature on the main page are on that list, and it seems kinda randomly put together to me. I took it off the Main Page and the Nav sidebar thingy.

I could be totally overstepping my bounds here, though, and making too drastic a decision. Feel free to revert it if you object to it at all. I think it belongs in both of those places, but not in its current state.

New User

There's a new-ish user WeirdAlFan, who's been adding their band to the wiki and their discography. I'm just letting you know in case you need to do something about it. --SpaGatti (talk) 14:58, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I am more interested in where he's got the Black Album track list from. Since "Can't Knock The Hustle" isn't on it, it's 100% fake. --Donny (talk)

Track List I Found on the Web

I found another track listing online, but I'm pretty sure it's fake. What do you think? This was apparently listed on discogs:

01 Can't Knock the Hustle 3:42

02 Zombie Bastards 4:12

03 Bahama Rain 3:39

04 Runner-Up 4:23

05 Nothing but the Hit 3:56

06 Don't 3:59

07 Blood Buddies 2:52

08 Garbage Style Parade, 1979 3:11

09 Cardigan Disaster 3:02

10 Take Me Back

Living in L.A. and A Ballad for the Fallen Soldier aren't on it, So I'm guessing it's fake (unless Living In L.A. is fake), So I wanted to run it buy you just in case you thought it had any potential. WeirdAlFan (talk)

Star of David

Hey Donny! It's been a while! I hope you're doing great. I was on the site today and came across the article Star of David. I'm not an admin anymore and can't delete the page, but I think it ought to be. A rap artist named Brian Bell put out that album, and someone erroneously made the page attributing it to Brain from =w=. Just giving ya a heads up. Sending a bunch of love! --MyNameIsJason (talk) 16:47, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey Jason. I'm doing great. Thanks for the heads up. I deleted the page. --Donny (talk) 19:56, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Featured song mp3 headline

Hey Donny! I've been having some trouble getting the Featured song MP3 headline to work. It seems to only like certain kinds of links, or it shows up like it did when I tried to feature Byzantine a few months ago. Is there a character limit to for the urls you put in? Does it not accept "https links, and only http? Any guidance would be appreciated. --MyNameIsJason (talk) 05:22, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey Jason. I am not sure about a character limit. I don't think I created that template. But I just tried to add a link to "Byzantine" on Spotify and it worked. It looks like you used a longer URL than I did Mine was indeed a little shorter. See below. One on the top was yours, bottom is mine.
{{Featured song MP3 headline|https://open.spotify.com/track/7GMaTvzLztGmZPl7Y2FJ0i?si=7zZdudQ1RkutNSPoDIFG2A|Byzantine}}
{{Featured song MP3 headline|https://open.spotify.com/track/7GMaTvzLztGmZPl7Y2FJ0i|Byzantine}}
I don't know if the template doesn't work with certain links. The current Featured song headline linked to a Youtube video and when I changed the URL to a shorter one, it worked as well. --Donny (talk)
Sorry I never responded here - thank you!

Gallery:Karl's Corner

Hey - I wanted to make an edit to Gallery:Karl's Corner and realized I couldn't. Would you mind either unlocking it or (if I'm qualified for it!) give me mod permissions again? --MyNameIsJason (talk) 06:42, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Hey Jason, I'll give you mod righst. Give me a second. --Donny (talk)
Many thanks! --MyNameIsJason (talk) 21:17, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Main Page redesign

Just tossed an idea on Talk:Main Page that I thought may interest you! --MyNameIsJason (talk) 07:50, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

=wp= twitter account?

heya! i know you don't know me, but jason directed me to you for help with something i've been curious about. do you still have any access to the weezerpedia twitter account, or know how to get it back? it hasn't been active in years but i think it would be pretty cool if we could revive it. thanks! --deckra (talk) 23:18, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Hey! Yes, myself and some other people have access to it. I forgot about it to be honest. Thanks for reminding me. I'll see if I can find someone who is more active. --Donny (talk) 08:31, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
if you need someone to run it, i volunteer! i'm not sure if you've noticed, but i was recently made an admin here on wp by jason and HMC. i'd love to run the account! let me know what you think --deckra (talk) 02:41, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

discord

No pressure at all - just wanted to say you would be a kingly presence in our discord. I feel like someone who's done so much heavy lifting for the wiki would be happy to see how many people are plugged in nowadays and really building community from it. Hope you're well. --MyNameIsJason (talk) 06:08, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey Jason. I'm doing well, thank you. I am so happy that finally, after all these years, there's a group of people who are doing such good work with the wiki. I love seeing the community so active again. Personally, I feel like I have done everything I wanted on weezerpedia by now. Mostly archiving all of Karl's original content. I sometimes still do a little edit here and there, if I see some errors or find new information. But overall, I don't want to be too involved anymore. All the new poeple do a fantastic job. I might check out the WP discord at some point though. Thanks for your message, Jason. --Donny (talk) 11:42, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
Totally get that. That huge effort has been so massively appreciated. --MyNameIsJason (talk) 19:00, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
