Weezer The Red Album.jpg

"Cold Dark World" is the eighth track off of The Red Album. "Cold Dark World" is based on a bass riff of Scott Shriner's that he used as a warm-up exercise. When the other members of Weezer heard the riff, they expressed interest in it, and the band began to hash out an arrangement. Rivers Cuomo realized he had some lyrics that would go perfectly with the music, and the co-written song between Shriner and Cuomo was born, with the former singing lead vocals. Cuomo's lyrics were originally intended for a song with a brighter mood, but with Shriner's music and lead vocal, the end result was a creepier, dark feel. full article | edit | upcoming
