The song was originally demoed during the DC Demos and BBC Sessions, as well as played live at many shows, in the summer of 2001.
After being properly recorded for Maladroit, Rivers Cuomo felt the recording was lacking in some way. When the band decided to release the song as the album's second single, he took it as a perfect opportunity to partially re-record/remix the track, embellishing it significantly. This new version, completed in the Spring of 2002, is the so-called 'radio version' featured on the various single releases and music video.
