Land Air Sea, is the third album by The Special Goodness.
Contents |
Overview
Due to the by-now cemented lineup and refined material, Patrick Wilson considers Land Air Sea to be the band's "first true release" despite it being the third official Special Goodness album. Earlier versions of the songs "Pay No Mind" and "Pardon Me" appeared on 1998's The Special Goodness and "You Know I'd Like...", "Life Goes By" and "Whatever's Going On" were released on 2001's At Some Point, Birds And Flowers Became Interesting.
Recording
Several Weezer in-studio alumni worked on the album including engineer Joe Barresi (who previously mixed Pinkerton and engineered the SnS Demos and the Christmas EP Winter Weezerland) and producer Chad Bamford who engineered Maladroit and received a co-producing credit for Make Believe. The album was also co-produced by the band.
Versions
Originally released in February 2003 by N.O.S. Recordings, a remastered, remixed, and re-ordered edition of Land Air Sea was released on Epitaph Records on January 20, 2004. The original version had three different covers while the Epitaph version has just one. The N.O.S. release featured more studio chatter and a hidden track that was little more than instrumental and vocal nonsense, whereas the Epitaph re-release trimmed the chatter and omitted the bonus track.
Singles
"Life Goes By" was released as a single in conjunction with the first release, and "N.F.A." with the second. Videos were made for both songs, but a retail single was pressed only for "Life Goes By". That CD single featured the non-LP track "Natural".
