Ric Ocasek (born Richard Otcasek on March 23, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland) is a guitarist, lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the massively successful new wave band The Cars. He has also been a producer for several bands including Weezer, Bad Brains, No Doubt, Guided by Voices, and Suicide. For Weezer, he produced The Blue Album in 1994, and The Green Album in 2001.

When Weezer was strong-armed by Geffen into using a producer on the debut album, they asked for Ocasek, with the logic that it should be someone who at least knew how to write good songs. To their surprise, Geffen made it happen. Ocasek's wife, model Paulina Porizkova, is said to have inspired The Rentals' "Friends of P.".

In 2011, Weezer covered the Cars Ocasek-penned track "You Might Think" for the movie Cars 2.
