...MB '05 Tour: Day 79: Edinburgh UK - The Corn Exchange

Today we were in Edinburgh (pronounced 'Edin-borough' not 'Edin-burg' as we learned a bit late!), a charming Scottish city that weezer hath never laid eyes on before. The gig was at The Corn Exchange, which, as it was explained to me, had a unsettling former life as a huge livestock rendering and processing facility, but which has been rock-oriented for about 15-20 years now.

Todays show was affiliated with the massive annual Edinburgh Fest, a monthlong music-film-art-theater-food-beer festival that jams the streets of the city to the wee hours for weeks on end every summer. It was also the final show of the August Japan-Euro leg of the Make Believe Tour, and the guys went out with a bang for sure! After Nine Black Alps' set (nice guys and devoted to the principles of Rock), weezer took the stage and offered a set somewhat similar to the last few, with the arsenal of old favorites, some clever new techniques plus a new suprise or two that stoked the crowd up big time - in particular those that got to help out with the show! (See the comments section for some fan reactions.)

Huge ups to Aileen, Heather and their friend Caroline who works at Bookworld, the late night souvineir shop, for the mini Fest tour and introduction to the tasty yet strange soft drink Irn Brw!

And huge ups to the fans of Japan and Europe for making this tour one of the most fun and best in my memory. See you next time!
