- January 2 - Rivers Cuomo composes the melody used for the demos "I'm So Lonely" and "Defeat on the Hill."
- January 3 - Rivers Cuomo purchases an Electro-Harmonix keyboard and a Korg keyboard from Center Music store in Newington, Connecticut, to "add a sci-fi tone to the planned album Songs from the Black Hole.[1]
- January 26 - Weezer records 4 songs for the BBC Evening Sessions and 2 acoustic songs for Greater London Radio (now BBC Radio London).
- January 30 - Weezer kicks off the World Domination Tour at the Splash Club in London, England, the band's first ever concert outside of North America.
- January 31 - Weezer performs at Club Lingerie in Los Angeles, CA.
February
- February 2 - The Australian "Undone - The Sweater Song" retail CD single is released featuring the previously unreleased song "My Evaline".
- February 14 - Supersport 2000 releases "Pink Slip."
- February 10 - Weezer's live performance of "Undone - The Sweater Song" airs on The Word on Channel 4 in the UK. It was taped at an unknown date in January.

- April 1 - Weezer perform an acoustic set for radio station WNNX Atlanta: Live X at Cat's Paw Studios.
- April 9 - Filming for the "Say It Ain't So" music video takes place.
