Weezer performed at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, CA for the KROQ Weenie Roast Y Fiesta on May 16, 2009. Other acts at the event included Jimmy Eat World.
Overview
At this concert, Weezer debuted the Wuggie, a customized Snuggie with "Weezer" written on it. A live broadcast of the show was available for free on KROQ.com. Video footage from this show was used for the video of the "Kids/Poker Face" cover posted to Weezer's YouTube channel on July 12, 2009. Weezer was initially scheduled to play the show's final spot, but the plan was changed last minute and Weezer was moved to the middle of the lineup.
This show was heavily criticized by the popular Weezer message board Allthingsweezer. Weezer had hinted at having special plans for the show on Twitter[1], so the online community was disappointed when the reveal was not about Weezer's seventh album or their upcoming tour with Blink-182.
