"Al's Bar" is a song by Brian Bell and Rivers Cuomo. It appeared on the compilation Alone XII: The White Year before it was quickly removed the same day due to the song featuring Bell alongside Cuomo.

Appearances

Overview

"Al's Bar" was written in 2015 about the venue at which Bell performed his first show with Weezer. The song was first mentioned in an interview with Bell in which he erroneously stated that it was a song on Weezer's 2019 Black Album,[1] suggesting that it may have been recorded in contention for that album.

Lyrics

They say it's all cleaned up, you know (Downtown)
No point in worryin' about Skid Row (Downtown)
Way past Bonnie Brae
Where the vagrants used to stay
Where the punk rock bands would play
All day

I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back and see all my friends
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again and say
It's gonna be okay

That's where the riot grrrls would go (Downtown)
Now it's a yoga studio (Downtown)
With the cool kids in the know
Where Bell played his first show
'Cause the last guy had to go
Oh no

I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back and see all my friends
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again and say
It's gonna be okay

Hey, Texas, watch your back
Almost gave Bell a heart attack
Said watch out for that Rivers guy
Turns out it was just a lie
Just a lie

It's alright
I'll work out

Downtown
Was the real L.A.
Where the vagrants used to stay
Where the punk rock bands would play
All day

I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back and see all my friends
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again and say
It's gonna be okay
A-hey-hey-hey
It's gonna be okay

I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
I wanna go back to Al's Bar again
