Overview
Weeze (later Weezer) was an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 2005 by Elisha Cuthbert (lead vocals), Patrick Wilson (drums, percussion), Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals) and Brian Bell, (guitar, backing vocals), with lead vocalist Elisha Cuthbert being replaced by Rivers Cuomo later on in the bands existence.
As of 2005, Weeze has released one studio album, Make Believe (Weeze), before being rebranded, and subsequently turned into Weezer, which is still present to this day.
History
Weeze was a short-lived band following the release of their debut, and only album Make Believe (Weeze). After the release of their debut, Weeze had performed and planned several live performances throughout the Spring season of 2005, but due to internal conflict between bassist Scott Shriner and lead vocalist Elisha Cuthbert, Cuthbert parted from the band.
As the band scrambled to find a new vocalist, frequent roadie and caretaker of the band Rivers Cuomo fills in during a live performance. After the performance, Weeze had found a new groove with their new vocalist, which lead to the rebranding of the band, with the new name of "Weezer", with the "R" standing for "Rivers", a homage to the first name of their new vocalist, Rivers Cuomo.
