"Congratulations" is the lead track from the debut album by The Special Goodness.

Overview

Some fans speculate that "Congratulations" is about Rivers Cuomo and his arguably misguided seizure of control of Weezer after their breakout success in 1994 [citation needed]. The song was demoed twice with the title "Thank You" in early 1993. The similarity of the versions to one another is unknown.

Lyrics

Well, I see you finally left the world
You lived in far behind and far away
And I see you finally reached the place you felt
You had to go but tell me something

Does it fulfill you like you thought
Or is it time to change again?

I can't believe you're satisfied
With your lame achievement!
Though it's nice to make believe
But not for me

Well, they're working all for you
You tell them what to do
And say to fit your vision
Well, you better hope it works
'Cause there's a line of jerks
Who wait to tell you something

How does it feel to have control
Of everything that's meaningless?

I can't believe you're satisfied
With your lame achievement!
Though it's nice to make believe
But not for me

Of course I'll come to celebrate
When they say you're over
With the ones who are relieved
'Cause we've suffered for so long
I think we've had enough
