weezer show #60: Club Lingerie, Hollywood, CA

Club Lingerie was located on Sunset Blvd, a good deal east of the Sunset Strip, more in the center of Hollywood. It was in the rock business for many years before being taken over and is now some sort of gentlemen's club or something. This was one of several Lingerie shows in the '92-'94. This show was "bootlegged", taped out of the mixing board by Karl who convinced the sound guy to let him record.

setlist:
1. no one else
2. the world has turned and left me here
3. my name is jonas
4. surf wax america
5. say it aint so
6. jamie
7. lullaby for wayne
8. undone the sweater song (with a nice "metal memories" ending)
9. only in dreams
10. excellent mutated cover of The Doobie Brothers' "China Grove" mixed w/ The Beatles' "Baby You're a Rich Man".

The other bands on the bill were 1000 Mona Lisas, an early pre-signing show for them, El Magnifico (containing John Pikus, who recorded weezer's 11/92 demo tape and was later in The Campfire Girls for a while), who had just recorded an album for RCA, and Black Market Flowers, who had just recorded an album for Relativity. This would mark one of the rare BMF/Weezer/El Mag team ups, 3 bands, who along with Wax defined the mini-scene that weezer was a part of then, trying to forge a non-hair band -yet- non-grunge scene...

Monday shows were always free, but with these 3 bands at this point in time when they were all kicking ass, the show was well worth an admission price.
