Overview
The music for "I Need Some Touch" was likely written by Pat Wilson, with Rivers Cuomo contributing the song's lyrics and vocal melody, in February of 1993 (according to the Weezer Recording History). During the early 2000s, on the Rivers Correspondence Board, the song was leaked by mistake (Cuomo had intended to submit "Comin' Home (Left My Broken Heart in Carolina)"). The same demo was later made available as part of the compilation Patrick & Rivers, sold on the demo storefront on Cuomo's personal website, on December 9, 2020.

Lyrics
Monkey in a cage
Cries in fits of rage
When deprived of simple touch
All of the white coats gauge
Do they understand?
Do they see that man?
Who’s king of all the monkeys true
Yet true, too, that each man is caged
Afraid it’s not your style
Afraid it’s not right
Afraid of coming on too strong
All of my teachers say watch your distance
That’s true, but I need some touch
Cats and dogs the same
Never ask my name
Come to me and freely touch
and I’ll freely touch them, too
How can this be so?
That I’d be afraid of Joe
Afraid it’s not your style
Afraid it’s not right
Afraid of coming on too strong
Afraid to seem-do-do…do do do do do…
How can this be so?
That I’d be afraid of Joe
He and me will always be
Afraid of what we need the most
Afraid it’s not your style
Afraid it’s not right
That’s what my teachers say
That’s what they learned
That’s how I’m going to live
