Overview

"Jarvik 7" was demoed by Ackerman during the '90s in his home's basement recording studio, where Patrick Wilson also recorded his band's eponymous debut album The Special Goodness. Wilson recorded drums and bass tracks for the song; Ackerman performed all other roles.[1]

The demo was included as a hidden track on Neighborly's debut album, Grass Is Greener, in 2001. It was later included as a bonus track on the expanded re-release of the album in 2016.

The song's title refers to the Jarvik-7, the first artificial heart to be successfully implanted in a human.[2]

Lyrics

I want to tell you everything
???
You don't care about the words
You can't know how much that hurts

This is all I know
We are all alone
This is all I know
We are all alone

Hardest decision that I make
??? wake up every day
??? out of bed
Just to want you once again

This is all I know
We are all alone
This is all I know
We are all alone

Is it so wrong
To think that showing some heart will change things
Is it so wrong
To think that showing some heart will change things
Is it so wrong
To think that showing some heart will change things
Is it so wrong
To think that showing some heart will change things
Baby I just need a replacement
Something ??? is ???

Why do we do this anyway
We hope to someday hear them say
That we've done the best we could
And that's all that matters

This is all I know
I am all alone
This is all I know
I am all alone

Is it so wrong
To want everyone to love me
