howdy folks - some news giblets to consider today:

...Thanks to the guys at GetGlue, we got some virtual stickers you can get by doing the check in thang. Check out the app page to get started. Instead of checking-into a place, check in to Weezer!

...The next show on the agenda is May 19th in Boston, at the B of A Pavilion. I hear tell that there are still some tickets available, but they wont last... so get in there, as this is likely the only Boston area show in 2011! I'll see you there!

...Weezer tribute band alerts!

1. Denver's weezer cover band, The Flying W's, will be playing their first show, performing the blue album on Sat. 5/7 at Lion's Lair in Denver, CO. with Cobalt Cranes and Feral Faucet. 9pm, 21+, $5 at the door.

2. Atlanta's mighty El Scorcho returns June 3rd at Atlanta's Hard Rock Cafe "doing a full set of Weezer tunes from past and present, plus suprises", with Soaked In Bleach (Nirvana Tribute) opening the show. All-ages.

...last summer, Weezer played a rock show at the U of Maryland, and the rad college radio station there, WMUC, invited me (karl) over to their vinyl packed station studio for a rambling and fun interview / free form DJ "set" and round table discussion before the show. WMUC and its staff to me felt exactly like what radio should be - all about the music and a near total lack of rules and restrictions. Now WMUC is in serious financial trouble due to nasty mis-directed budget slashing. Check out the whole story here and consider helping them out, they are cool.
