Appearances

Overview

"Knock-down Drag-out" is thought to be significantly influenced by Green Day. Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo spent several years between the band's release of Pinkerton and The Green Album studying Green Day's music, and he may have drawn inspiration from the song "Worry Rock" for "Knock-down Drag-out." "Worry Rock," which Weezer covered in 2003, includes the lyric "A knocked down dragged out fight / Fat lips and open wounds / Another wasted night no one will take the fall."

The Green-era B-side "Starlight" may have formed the musical basis for "Knock-down Drag-out". The Catalog O' Riffs number for the latter is shared by an entry titled "Slow Starlight", in addition to an entry simply represented as a chord progression: "|C |F |C |F |"

Lyrics

Any day now you'll call me up on the phone
And say you love me more than you ever did before
It's all that I can do right now
To make it up to you somehow
And meet you on the other side of hope

Take no prisoners here in this knock-down drag-out war
That we're waging on each other for ever more
It's all that I can do right now
To make it up to you somehow
And meet you on the other side of hope

Say you love me now

It's all that I can do right now
To make it up to you somehow
And meet you on the other side of hope

Take no prisoners here in this knock-down drag-out war
That we're waging on each other for ever more
That we're waging on each other for ever more
