M1 is a character from Songs from the Black Hole. Described as the ship's "mechanoid", the character was intended to be voiced by Karl Koch. Rivers Cuomo sings the part in the demo for "Blast Off!" using a vocoder. In live performances of the song, the character's lyrics are omitted and substituted with an additional verse by Wuan (Brian Bell).
