Mike: You've been a constant in one of the best rhythm sections in rock. That said: How do you feel about the variety of counterparts you've had in bass players?

Pat: It's amazing how different Matt, Mikey and Scott are. They all have their cool things going on.

Mike: Does that blow your mind, since it's half the rhythm gone?

Pat: Well, you just get another half!

Mike: Who do you think you gelled with the most?

Pat: Probably Scott.

Mike: On the subject of bass players, there are huge Matt Sharp fans out there - do you have any ideas of his whereabouts or what he's up to?

Pat: I think he's here in L.A. screwing around.

Mike: Do you ever get tired of playing the opening riff to "Undone" or is it a fond nostalgia like it is for your fans?

Pat: Now it's more about the fans. That song is like 10 years old!

Mike: Who is your percussive hero?

Pat: All the usual suspects: Jon Bonham, Stewart Copeland, etc.

Mike: For that matter, who do you emulate in your guitar playing?

Pat: I have kind of a weird mix of Johnny Marr from The Smiths, and more rock stuff like Zep.

Mike: Some of my favorite recordings of you are on Return Of, especially "Summer Girl." Do see yourself playing with meters in your solo work?

Pat: Not too much, but I'm doing some electronic stuff called The Franklin Mint and that's where that comes out.

Mike: Are you enjoying yourself onstage? Because, I've seen you and you always look like you're having the best time of everyone.

Pat: I am now! It was kind of rough for a while.

Mike: I saw a video of a show where you guys did a "1-2-3-Weezer!" cheer before you went out on stage - is that a ritual?

Pat: No!

Mike: Do you remember signing my cousin's shoe [in Virginia]?

Pat: Yes!

Mike: Did you go straight into music, or were you heading down the path of academia?

Pat: I think I was always there but kept trying to travel to academia. I finally decided to stay.

Mike: Do you read any of the various Weezer message boards? I seem to recall you posting a while back...

Pat: I used to, but it's kind of like the news to me now. Can't deal!

Mike: What is your attitude (or Weezer's in general) towards bootlegging at shows? If you don't mind it, why not allow people to openly tape them so that the best quality stuff gets out there?

Pat: That's what I'm talking about!

Mike: What's your favorite of the Maladroit songs?

Pat: "Fall Together," probably.

Mike: Do you watch The Crocodile Hunter?

Pat: No.

Mike: Who's your favorite Greek God or Goddess?

Pat: Well, of course there's Bacchus, which I like to spell Bokkus.

Mike: How do you feel about David Lynch?

Pat: Gifted.

Mike: Do you like East Coast or West Coast rap better?

Pat: I like Iowa rap. Kind of in the middle.

Mike: What CD is in your CD player right now?

Pat: Queens of the Stone Age's first CD.
