Rivers Cuomo wrote "Black, White, and Blue" in contention for what would eventually become Weezer's eponymous 2019 Black Album. In 2023, demos of the song were worked on with producer Klas Åhlund in contention for Weezer's twentieth album,[1][2][3] during which time the song was renamed "Red, White, and Blue."[4][5][6] In June of 2024, Cuomo released some demos of the song as part of the digital demo compilation Alone XIII: The Pacific Daydream Black Years.
