"Out of the Blue" Electric Light Orchestra (JET/EPIC) I remember the tour where ELO had a spaceship land at Anaheim Stadium, in California, with the band in it. I especially like "Sweet Is the Night" the absurdity of the violins and the ridiculous multitracking stuff.

"Isn't It a Pity" George Harrison (APPLE) Sadness. I've been extremely into this over-the-top sadness thing lately.

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" Directed by Milos Forman It was before Jack Nicholson started playing himself. An amazingly sad movie. Is this all I've been saying lately? Sad, sad, sad.

Ingmar Bergman Can I get a disclaimer on this? I feel it's such a bad tag to like Bergman. Anyway, in every movie he has someone in unbelievably extreme pain. But I love the way he deals with dialogue and character interaction. Through a Glass, Darkly is my favorite.

"You Don't Know How It Feels" Tom Petty (WARNER BROS.) I just saw the video, and it's great. But I still don't understand why Tom Petty can't say "smoke another joint" on MTV.

"Spirit of Eden" Talk Talk (EMI MANHATTAN) It's probably the best album ever recorded. The production values are amazing. Everyone thinks Talk Talk are a crap New Wave band, but that's totally wrong.

New York I like being able to go out at 4:30 in the morning and get good food. Like onion bagels with vegetable cream cheese at Bagels on the Square, in the West Village.

The Black Cat Washington, DC. I like the fact that Dave Grohl keeps trying to get me to go there. The club gets good bands. If I were in D.C., I'd go there now. But I'll never live there again. The city's so out-of-hand conservative. In fact, I'd love to hang out with my parents more often if they only lived somewhere else like New York.
