Rentals cover
An instrumental synthesizer cover of "Silent Night" was included on the Kevin & Bean compilation How The _____ Stole Christmas. It features Jim Richards on synth, Matt Sharp on drums, and a voice-over advertisement for Return of the Rentals by Rod Cervera. The cover was later re-released on the 2001 Rentals fan-club compilation Excellent Stocking Stuffer.
Weezer cover
The song appeared as the sixth and final track on the 2008 EP Christmas with Weezer. It was first available for download to play on the Christmas with Weezer application for the iPhone and iPod touch created by Tapulous, the makers of Tap Tap Revenge. The songs on this EP were recorded in different stages. Drummer Patrick Wilson and bassist Scott Shriner recorded their parts initially, with Wilson also playing lead guitar. Later, lead singer Rivers Cuomo recorded lead vocals. Lastly, rhythm guitarist Brian Bell recorded backing vocals.
