Songs that are pleasers to a Weezer
Author: Susan Whitall (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
Published: March 28, 1995

Weezer suck? No way. Who wouldn't love a cross between the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground? Bring on that surf wax. Bassist Matt Sharp agreed to be our Spin Doctor du jour. On the road and just out of their gig at the State Theatre, he phoned in his three favorite songs:

"Sweet Is the Night" - Electric Light Orchestra
"High School" - Louis Barlow's Acoustic Sentridon
"Heaven on Their Minds" - Jesus Christ Superstar sound track

Why, Matt, why? "Because," Sharp notes, "Lou Barlow, ELO's Jeff Lynne and Murray Head, who played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar - they all should rule the planet at some time."
