Fan recollection
Weezer Fan Club member Anatasia-Camille Glover wrote about the concert in issue 4 of Weezine:
I missed Weezer when they were in San Francisco this spring so when I heard they were doing another show at the Warfield on August 20, I bought a ticket the first day they went on sale. Everything was fine until my crappy car got into Oakland. It started stalling, but started right up again. I crossed my fingers and prayed (even though I never go to synagogue!) to God that I would do anything if I could see Weezer somehow (I knew the car was not going to make it, I have slight ESP). Well, about 100 feet from the Bay Bridge toll booths, my car died. I just sat there, staying as calm as I could, while my best friend, who had been driving, got out and walked to a toll booth to ask what to do. About an hour later, we ended up in Emeryville, a tiny town between Oakland and S.F. I had been crying almost hysterically, because my best friend said there was no way we could get to the concert now. I couldn't believe my friend was being so nonchalant about missing the concert. Well, to make a long story short, we took a few buses, got on BART, and made it to the Warfield at 7:05pm. I told my friend he could come with me or find a way home, but I was going to make it to see Weezer, no matter what. I saw the whole concert just a few feet from Rivers, Matt, Brian, and Pat. I pushed and fought to stay in the very front the whole time. I sang along to every song and I felt I would burst with joy when they did "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here", "In the Garage", and "Holiday". I know I must sound like an obsessed little teenager- well, I am! I'm 19 yrs. old and I love Weezer more than anything. I was so mad when I was holding onto the Chewbacca stand-up and six guys struggled with me for it! I only got about 2. inches of it! I didn't get back to Stockton until 4am. I was so cold I thought I'd catch pneumonia, and my car is still in another city, an hour and 20 minutes away. BUT I SAW WEEZER AND I LOVED IT!!!
