The 9:30 club is the greatest venue ever, it only holds 1200 people and you can get so close to the stage. We were really close to the stage about in the 5th row of people away from the stage. It was kewl. We had to wait about 45 minutes while roadies tuned the guitars and mikes.

When Ash came out the crowd went nuts. They played all they're best songs. When they played "Kung-Fu" I ran and jumped in the mosh pit but they were a little too rough so I didn't stay for long. Then we had to wait for like an hour for Weezer to come out I was so thirsty and I saw some guy with a cup and begged him for a sip and he gave it to me. I didn't know it was beer but I was really thirsty so I drank it anyway. When they finally did come out we all went crazy. During about the 3rd song I got seperated from Melissa (the girl I was with), so I pushed my way to the front and I got right in front of Matt Sharp.

He was so cool, he would jump around and talk to the crowd. He poured water on me- it was so rad.

Then I saw the girl I was with crowd surf over me security grabbed her so I ran over to her. The security guy was nice and let her stay. Then we stayed together for the rest of the concert. It was so cool. If you want to hear more like what they said and everything just say and I'll tell you but this is getting really long so I won't include most of the details. They played a 4 song encore-it was awesome.

Then after the show we went outside and waited for my parents but they never came out. You should have seen all the people lined up at the tour bus, so we went back in and found them my mom said someone is upstairs signing autographs so we told her which t-shirts to buy us and gave her money and I grabbed the backpack from her and Melissa and I went upstairs and there low and behold he was, Rivers Cuomo.

I couldn't believe it-he was standing at the balcony and the crowd had him pushed against the railing of the balcony. He signed some autographs and then walked up away from the edge of the balcony. Melissa didn't bring anything to get signed so I gave her my Pinkerton CD and told her she could just trade me hers when we got home he signed it for her and I got out my CD of their first album and some guy pushed into me and crushed the liner notes so I just threw it in my bag and got out a poem I wrote for him. By the time I got it out of my bag some of the people had left and I was able to get up and stand right next to Rivers. I said "Rivers, hey Rivers" and held out my poem and said "here" he took it and was about to autograph it and I reached over and said "no, no Rivers that's for you." And then I think he knew what it was, he looked up and made eye contact and looked at me for a few seconds, I guess so that he could remember what I look like when he reads it, and said "Oh, ok thank you." And folded it up and put it in his pocket. Oh God, I hope he liked it. God, we were so lucky. I feel sorry for those people that were waiting outside at the bus. I still can't believe we met Rivers!!! We stood next to, talked with, and touched the greatest songwriter and coolest person alive right now!!! I got him to autograph my Weezer Lyric Book and we gave him an index card with our phone numbers, mailing addresses and e-mail addresses on it, and I told him that it was for if he got lonely during finals. And he laughed and said "Ok, thanks." He put it in his pocket. Then I asked if we could get a picture with him and he said sure but then a bunch of groupies ran up to him and started talking to him so Melissa and I just stood there with him while he signed autographs I couldn't believe it-standing in front of me was the greatest person alive. I was so happy I don't think I can explain the feeling I had while standing with him or talking to him and looking in his eyes.

He acted really cool and normal, so it was easy to be relaxed around him. Plus, I knew he would probably only talk to us if I acted normal.

Some groupie had a pipe and was trying to get Rivers to smoke it but he wouldn't, and then the kid started smoking it and the smoke was going right in Rivers's face. He didn't say anything. Then some kid pointed at his shoes and asked him if he skates, and he said "No I have a bum leg." The guy was like "Oh yeah, I forgot. And another groupie gave him her phone number and kept hitting on him and he was like "Are you over 21?" She said "yeah" but he knew better and didn't belive her.

Then finally the crowd died down and I asked him if we could get our picture now and he said "oh yeah, sure" and my mom took a picture of me and Melissa with Rivers. Then I said "We gotta go, buddy." And I shook his hand and he said "bye it was nice meeting you" (can you believe that?!? he thought it was nice meeting me), and Melissa shook his hand and said "bye" and he said "buh-bye." I couldn't believe it.

"oh my god" -Rivers

Last night (Saturday) was the most fun I've had in a long time. My first Weezer concert, after missing various other chances to go, and it was at the 9:30 club.

As far as the setlist, it has pretty much been the same, opening w/Tired of sex,Getchoo,Jonas..etc., But last night's was special. Right before they started No one Else I decided to throw my black knit stocking cap on stage to Rivers. Just after I threw it they began the so he didn't put it on...yet. As soon as the song was done he picked it up and put it on. He wore while playing No other one,Why Bother, and in the garage. Then he threw it back in the audience and I tried to get it back.

Luckily, a super cool guy near me caught it and gave it back to me. Thanks again super cool guy.

Anyway, they finished and as the stage crew was cleaning up. I was yelling at Karl and showed him my fanclub card, he gave me a thumbs up and said "cool".

NOW THE BEST PART
Rivers was on the balcony signing autographs so I went up there and waited my turn. I handed him my fanclub card to sign and he did a double take and said "Oh my god!,That's amazing! That's the lowest number I've ever seen!" (I'm Number 14 by the way)

Then he said "Did you forge this?!" Right about here I said something stupid like "uh,no" then he continued "That's Amazing!" and he said "Did you want me to sign it?" I said "Uh,yeah"(stupid) and then I congratulated him on a good show and shook his hand he again said "That's amazing!", and I was on my way home from a great night.
