Overview
Rivers Cuomo recorded a demo of "The Spider" in June of 2007 in contention for Weezer's then-planned sixth album (The Red Album). This demo went unheard by fans until it was leaked online in November 2020 and subsequently released as part of the digital demo compilation Alone X: The Red-Raditude-Hurley Years. Weezer recorded the song during sessions for The Red Album but ultimately wasn't used on the album. Instead, it was released on the deluxe edition of Red.
