Angus: Music from the Motion Picture is a soundtrack album released alongside the eponymous film from 1995. It contains the Weezer song "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly".

Overview

In 1995, Rivers Cuomo was approached by the producers of Angus to write a song for its soundtrack. Originally, Cuomo wrote "Wanda (You're My Only Love)", whose lyrics summarize the film's plot, however this song was rejected for being "too literal" and for not sounding enough like other popular Weezer songs. After the rejection, he wrote and submitted "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly", which was included in the film. Cuomo recalls being "angry, frustrated, and sad" at the studio's reaction to "Wanda" and has stated he felt the producers were wrong for including the ultimately chosen track. Said Cuomo, "The song had nothing to do with the movie, the characters, or the mood of the scene in which it played. At the time I concluded that the movie people didn't care about the art at all, they just wanted a Weezer rock single."[1] "Wanda" was eventually released on the compilation album Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo in 2007.

The soundtrack features songs from other bands contemporary to Weezer, including Green Day and Ash.
