Overview
"Hippies" was written by Rivers Cuomo in early 2013 in contention for the album that would eventually Weezer's ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. about this table
Lyrics
Hippies (ver. 1)
I miss the hippies in my life
Patchouli sticks that they would often light
Their happy dreams of peace and love
And isn't that what we all want?
Where'd hippie-dippies go?
Did they cut off their hair as they got old?
Did they O.D. on PCP?
Or get absorbed in EDC?
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippies, hippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are nice
And nobody haggles to get a good price
'Cause they got contentment down deep inside
Why can't we all just get along?
Don't need ??? hippie songs
I hope you stay here in my life
You can be my faithful wife
We'll start an awesome hippie band
And do ten minute smokey blues rock jams
Our fans will tape record the shows
And we will burn our underclothes
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippies, hippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are nice
And nobody haggles to get a good price
'Cause they got contentment down deep inside
...
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippies, hippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are nice
And nobody haggles to get a good price
'Cause they got contentment down deep inside

Hippies (ver. 8)
I miss the hippies in my life
The rank patchouli sticks that they would light
The fantasies of love and peace
Isn't that what we all need?
So where did all the hippies go?
Did they cut off their hair to spite their nose?
Were they absorbed in EDC?
Did they O.D. on PCP?
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippie-dippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are kind
And not one of them ever cut you in line
So don't write 'em off till you give peace a try
We'll start an awesome hippie band
And do ten minute smokey blues rock jams
Our fans will tape record the shoes
And we'll burn up our underclothes
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippie-dippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are kind
And not one of them ever cut you in line
So don't write 'em off till you give peace a try
Why can't we just get along?
We won't need to hit a bong
We got tunes to keep us high
I hope you stay here in my life
Be my faithful hippie wife
'Cause I'm in love with you
And so is everyone around the world
Hippies, hippies
I want more hippies in my life
Hippie-dippies
They dreamed of a world where the people are kind
And not one of them ever cut you in line
So don't write 'em off till you give peace a try
