Today in Weezer History: 12/7/1996 - Weezer performs in Gainesville, FL at the Florida Theater on the Pinkerton Tour. Today's photo was submitted some years ago by one Brad Wilson, who is the smiling guy to the right of Rivers in this photo. Brad went to several 1996 Florida shows and this was a time when it wasn't too difficult to track down the band directly after the show, as Rivers usually would just wander outside and into whatever crowd of fans was waiting around, and the other guys would pop up there too sooner or later. This show was opened by Ash, who took over from Placebo (who took over for Superdrag). They were touring on their debut album '1977', and this tour cemented a friendship with Weezer that has lasted to this day. In fact, they are one of the bands joining us on the Weezer Cruise 2014 coming up in February.
