Today in Weezer History: 12/17/1996 - Weezer plays Liberty Lunch in Austin TX on the Pinkerton Tour, with Ash opening. Liberty Lunch was/is a rustic semi indoors, semi outdoors shed type venue with a dirt floor, that famously promised "Live music, under the stars, in Austin, Texas" till it was closed in 1999, demolished in the name of downtown development. Like too many 90's era weezer shows, very little survives from this show, with no pictures, audio or video known to exist. Pictured here is the setlist (which had gotten ever more odd in increasingly successful attempts by Karl to befuddle the band during their set), Ash's setlist, a ticket stub submitted by a fan many years ago, and the cover of the Fall tourbook, which were like bibles on the road back then, before the internet and cell phones changed everything about being on the road.
