Overview
"Hit the Jungle" was written in May of 1990 by Rivers Cuomo[1] and included in a collection of demos from that year labeled Best of the Worst. Two demos of the song were among hundreds leaked on the demo storefront on riverscuomo.com in November of 2020. These demos were made available for purchase later that month as part of the digital compilation Alone V: Before Weezer.
The short instrumental demo "Rip 'n' Shred" (also from 1990) is listed in the Cuomo's Grand File as "Rip 'n' Shred (hit the jungle)," though it is unclear if it is meant to be part of "Hit the Jungle."
