Overview
"Smile" was one of fourteen unmastered Green session tracks leaked online prior to the album's release. The leaked version contains some repeated sections with some different lyrics to those found on the album. "Smile" was performed numerous times during the band's subsequent tours for the Green album in 2001. The song was performed six times in 2002 wherein it featured a new solo. In 2005, a piano-driven arrangement of the song was played live twice, featuring Brian Bell on lead vocals. On February 8, 2019, the band posted a video to Snapchat[1] of the song being rehearsed acoustically. Despite this, the song has not been played live since 2005.
Reception
The song received a positive review from the Weezer songblog Teenage Victory Songs. It was included in the site's "Grand Playlist," a collection of songs that include Weezer's just-below-best material.
