"Lisa" is the third track from Alone III: The Pinkerton Years 1994-1997.
Appearances
Overview
"Lisa" was written on January 4, 1995,[1] and likely demoed soon thereafter.[2] For many years, "Lisa" was erroneously believed to be part of the unfinished rock concept Songs from the Black Hole, as it was listed alongside other demos from that project in the Recording History on weezer.com. A picture of a Songs from the Black Hole demo CD from Karl Koch also showed that "Lisa" was Track 12 on the track list.[citation needed] However, Cuomo later refuted this on his Myspace page.[citation needed]
"Lisa" was finally first heard by fans when it was released as part of the compilation CD Alone III: The Pinkerton Years (as a pack-in with the book The Pinkerton Diaries) in 2011, whereupon it became apparent that the eponymous "Lisa" was a woman who worked with Weezer's management (based on the song lyric's reference to the band's manager, Pat Magnarella), in the same vein as "Susanne" (named for then-Geffen employee Susanne Wilkins) and "Jamie" (named for Jamie Young, Weezer's then-lawyer at Geffen). In 2020, Cuomo clarified that the Lisa referred to was Lisa Cavallo, daughter of Bob Cavallo (the founder of Weezer's then-management firm, Third Rail). Cuomo noted that Lisa Cavallo "did day to day management for the band in 1993-1995".[3]

Lyrics
Ring ring, who's there?
It's my favorite girl in the whole world
What's that? She wants for me to do something for Magna
Li- Li- Li- Lisa
plea- plea- plea- please-uh
Cut me a little slack
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
'Cause all we ever seem to do is business
Read and sign, and fax this
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
Steve Perry and Seal
we're all in the same boat together
We're slaves who row
hopelessly in love with our master
Li- Li- Li- Lisa
plea- plea- plea- please-uh
Cut me a little slack
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
'Cause all we ever seem to do is business
Read and sign, and fax this
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
Li- Li- Li- Lisa
plea- plea- plea- please-uh
Haven't we anything to say
Besides the news of the day?
Give me a little kiss
Oh, Bob, isn't there something you can do?
After all, doesn't Lisa work for you?
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
'Cause all we ever seem to do is business
Read and sign, and fax this
Oh Lisa, wish I didn't work for you
