Overview
The instrumental "Me and My Posse" is first known to have been demoed at SIR Rehearsal Studios in Los Angeles on May 3, 2004 as a guitar instrumental intro to the song "Always, Forever." In July of 2004, the song was demoed as a piano instrumental intro to the song "Love Is the Answer." The existence of the song's title was made known to fans when the song appeared on the spreadsheet The 4 and 5 Star Demos of Rivers Cuomo in July of 2008, where it was listed as having been recorded in 2004.
The song was resurrected by Weezer when it was played live at various shows in 2009 and 2010. The song was listed as "Epic Intro" on live "bootleg" CDs sold on the band's official web store. Demos of the song were among hundreds leaked online on November 7, 2020, through the digital storefront on riverscuomo.com, and were made available as single-quantity purchases when the storefront opened a few days later. On November 22, the song was made available for purchase to all as part of the digital compilation Alone IX: The Make Believe Years.
