Appearances

Overview

"Let's Go to the Mall" was demoed by Wilson in Spring 1994 on an 8-track recorder, while Weezer was taking a break from their tour for Weezer (The Blue Album).[1] It was included on the Suburban Advantage demo EP later that year. The song was among the first from the EP to leak to fans, being commonly traded in the late 90s.

The demo's music was later reused for the song "Riff", which was played live at least once in 1999.

Lyrics

Everywhere I go
Something's in my face
Asking me to make a choice
Why is this so?

Manufacturers
In my living space
Showing me why theirs is best
Why is this so?

If I had my way
I'd turn them all away
Am I wrong for wanting this?

Turn on the TV
That's a big mistake
But it seems this people watch
Why is this so?

Let's go to the mall
Buy some overpriced
Clothes made by some overworked
Sweatshop labor

If I had my way
I'd turn them all away
Am I wrong for wanting this?

I feel like I'm at
A big carnival
Every attraction designed
To rid me of a
"Why is this the case today?"

If I had my way
I'd turn them all away
Am I wrong for wanting this?
