Overview
"Let's Sew Our Pants Together" was written by Rivers Cuomo and Patrick Wilson near the formation of Weezer around February or March of 1992. It is first known to have been performed live at 8121 Club in Los Angeles. The song continued to be performed at various Weezer shows throughout the spring, and was one of three songs recorded for the band's first demo in May of 1992. It was later rerecorded[1] for The Kitchen Tape in August of the same year. The song is not known to have been performed by Weezer after the summer of 1992.
Despite the inclusion of other tracks from The Kitchen Tape, "Let's Sew Our Pants Together" does not appear on the compilation Dusty Gems & Raw Nuggets from the Deluxe release of The Blue Album, as it was purportedly considered too "sloppy" by Todd Sullivan, Weezer's former Geffen A&R representative who produced the deluxe release of Blue.[2] It was instead distributed online in the early 2000s after fans acquired a copy of the Kitchen Tape.
Rivers Cuomo played the song over the video streaming platform Ustream on August 19, 2011.[3]
The May 1992 demo was released on the digital compilation, Patrick & Rivers on December 9, 2020.

Lyrics

Raise the window
It's getting hot in here
All these breathers
And all of these suckers
Shake my hand now
Pleased to meet you
Your skin is pretty
But underneath you're a monster
Are we friends now?
Am I your brother?
Can we bleed together?
Are we lovers?
Let's sew our pants together (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Let's climb right in forever (6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
Then won't we all be so clever?
If we sew our pants together
Wake the next morning
One below the waist
But you want poached eggs
And I want to go to the bathroom
What do we do now?
What do we make of this?
Can my blood flow
Apart from your stitch?
Let's sew our pants together (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Let's climb right in forever (6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
Then won't we all be so clever?
If we sew our pants together
Let's set our hair on fire
Let's throw our hearts in the mire
Let's sell our eggs to any buyer
We've made a liar of desire
Let's sew our pants together
Let's sew our pants together
We've made a liar of desire
We've made a liar of desire
We've made a liar of desire
We've made a liar of desire
