"Codependent" is a song by Rivers Cuomo, originally demoed in consideration for what would eventually become Weezer's ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. It is an early version of the song "(Girl We Got a) Good Thing" from Weezer's White Album. Demos of the song were released as part of the digital compilation Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years on November 22, 2020.

Overview

"Codependent," an early iteration of the Weezer song "(Girl We Got a) Good Thing," was first mentioned in an episode of the radio show 2 Hours with Matt Pinfield, wherein Cuomo explained that the song originally described a relationship that was "getting ugly", but didn't seem to "take-off" with the music. He then began singing the lyric "Good thing" around the melody, and wrote new lyrics about his experiences around Venice Beach, eventually resulting in the song "(Girl We Got a) Good Thing." On April 1, 2018, Cuomo sang part of the original "Codependent" chorus towards the end of a performance of "Girl We Got A Good Thing" over the mobile video streaming app Periscope.

"Codependent" was released on November 22, 2020 as part of the digital compilation Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years.
