Lyrics

Why was I ever born and why did God make me?
He must’ve been high when he dropped me down here
All of my neighbors have shut off their porch lights
Like smoke from their chimneys, I’ll soon disappear

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows

When it’s high noon I go blind from the light beams
Reflecting off snow like a merciless sword
When the night falls, I am grateful for blackness
That blankets my sadness; it’s my lone reward

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows

I don’t want to die alone
Lord, I’m running out of hope
I don’t want to die alone
Lord, I’m running

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And, as the years pass by, it grows

Why was I ever born and why did God make me?
He must’ve been high when he dropped me down here
All of my neighbors have shut off their porch lights
Like smoke from their chimneys, I’ll soon disappear

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
As the moon goes 'round the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
This solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows

When it’s high noon I go blind from the light beams
Refracting off snow like the swings of a sword
When the night falls, I am grateful for blackness
It blankets my sadness; it’s my lone reward

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
As the moon goes 'round the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
This solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows

I don’t want to die alone
But, Lord, I’m running out of hope
I don’t want to die alone
Lord, I’m running out of hope

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
As the moon goes 'round the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
This solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows

Why was I ever born and why did God make me?
He must’ve been high when he dropped me down here
All of my neighbors have shut off their porch lights
Like smoke from their chimneys, I’ll soon disappear

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
The moon retreats behind the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows

When it’s high noon I come down with a migraine
The sun off the snow hits my eyes like a sword
And so I am grateful for all this soft blackness
That blankets my sadness; it’s my lone reward

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
The moon retreats behind the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows

Help me find myself again
I don't wanna die alone
Help me find myself again
I don't wanna die alone

It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
The moon retreats behind the Earth
I see it all from where I perch
It’s dark enough to see the stars
I wonder who and where we are
Solitude is all I know
And as the years pass by it grows
And grows
