Background
"Flight Plans" is an unreleased song that was worked on during the sessions for Everything Will Be Alright in the End. A 7-second excerpt from the song can be heard in the first preview video for the album from the band's YouTube page. The song is not currently in circulation, but has been played to fans, who have attempted to recreate the song by memory. In 2019, a fan-recorded clip leaked online.
The explicit premise of the song and its place in the album's narrative are unknown, but the teaser video for Eulogy for a Rock Band features a shot of a newspaper billboard, dated November 2, 1985, that reads "The plane went down at roughly 2am after the band's triumphant show at Wembley."
Lyrics
[...]
Five, four, three, two, one, go!
We had our flight plans
But we lost 'em
We're stuck in space now
Think we got a problem
We got issues
We better solve them
We're seein' red now
Think we got a problem
How we gonna fix it?
How we gonna fix it?
I thought this was reality
It's more like science fiction
We had our flight plans
But we lost 'em
We're stuck in space now
Think we got a problem
