"Goodbye, Steve" is a song by the Rentals. It is the twelfth track and fifteenth single from the band's fourth album, Q36, and was released on June 9, 2020.

Overview

"Goodbye, Steve" is an interlude that closes out Side 3 on the album. According to a statement by the band upon the song's release, "In the context of the 15 other songs, "Steve" is meant to act as brief interlude, a little pause, reprise to Teen Beat Cosmonaut and one big, deep breath before plunging into Side Four, the album's final chapter." The statement went on to add that, due to the "serious nature of the dialog our society is currently having" (referring to the 2020 international protests against police brutality following the killing of George Floyd), the band would not be releasing any accompanying promotional elements (merchandise, music video, etc.) for "Goodbye, Steve".
