Overview
"O Girl" was written by Rivers Cuomo in 2000. In 2015, Cuomo provided his own annotation for the song "Do You Wanna Get High?" on the website Genius.com, wherein he revealed that the real life girl alluded to in the song's lyrics was the same girlfriend from the songs "O Girlfriend" and "O Girl".
The song is not known to have been recorded as a solo demo by Cuomo, as no such recording is listed in the Recording History and the song was absent from the digital compilation Alone VII: The Green Years, released in 2020. "O Girl" is first known to have been demoed as a band at Cole Rehearsal Studios on May 3, 2000. The band performed the song several times over the summer, and some bootlegs and soundboard recordings have circulated online since. In November of 2001, Rivers Cuomo released a semi-official "album" consisting of soundboard recordings from the band's summer 2000 tour, edited down to be what Cuomo felt, at the time, better song structures. The "official" edit of "O Girl" omits the third verse ("O girl, you're trembling...") and a chorus section.
In 2011, during a fan interview on Ustream, Brian Bell named "O Girl" as one of his favorite unreleased Weezer tracks.[citation needed]In 2011, on the fan forum All Things Weezer, Pat Wilson joked that the song was scrapped "because [he] liked it!" [1]

Lyrics
O girl, you look sad
Burnt out and half gone mad
Filth crowding up the place
Tears on your face
O girl, you're scared to move
You don't wanna have to prove
That you're among the sane
Hiding away
O girl, I thought you a flirt
And too shallow to get hurt
But now I see in your eyes
The pain that can't be just lies
You're like me
O girl, you're trembling
Blank stare dissembling
That things are a-okay
Please go away
O girl, I thought you a flirt
And too shallow to get hurt
But now I see in your eyes
The pain that can't be just lies
You're like me
O girl
