"O Girlfriend" (sometimes spelled "Oh Girlfriend") is the tenth and final song from The Green Album.

"O Girlfriend" was among the unmastered Green tracks that leaked in the spring of 2001, with no appreciable differences from the album version. Around January of 2007, Rivers Cuomo wrote a blog post on his Myspace.com profile, wherein he rebutted a claim on his Wikipedia article that he had "an affinity for Asian women." [1] Cuomo then proceeded to list a number of Weezer songs categorized by race of the girls that inspired them, with "O Girlfriend" listed under "Half-Caucasian/half-Asian". In 2015, Cuomo provided his own annotation for the 2016 track "Do You Wanna Get High?" on the website Genius.com, wherein he revealed that the song's subject is the same as "O Girlfriend" (as well as "O Girl"). Note the references to pills in both "O Girlfriend" and "Do You Wanna Get High?."

Live performances

O Girlfriend was only performed live a total of four times. The most notable circulating bootleg being the final performance of the song on July 14, 2002. It's regarded by fans as a particularly strong performance with its unique guitar solo. On August 27, 2011, Rivers Cuomo played the song acoustically to viewers on the streaming website USTREAM. [2]

The song received a positive review from Teenage Victory Songs, representing the positive reception that the band's more diehard fan base has shown the song. TVS included the song in "The Grand Playlist."

Album version

Live, July 14, 2002

I miss you
And I wonder how you feel about me too
Do you miss the way we would play
And waste our time away?
Suddenly, we're apart
And I can't see you every night
Though we fight I love you so much
Now I can't feel your touch

O girlfriend
That's the end
And I'm lost without your love
Oh, love

In your arms
I was happy as a little boy could be
Taking pills and mellowing out
Now I just want to shout
For your love
'Cause I'm drifting further from you everyday
Driving by your place every night
I used to feel alright

Feeling fancies every night
When I dreamed to be alright
Oh, love
Oh, love
